Breast augmentation with Breast Lift Orange County – Newport Beach California

Enhance Your Confidence with a Breast Augmentation and Lift

When candidates for breast augmentation surgery are looking for both increased breast volume as well as a more youthful, perky appearance, combining breast augmentation with a breast lift procedure (mastopexy) can help provide dramatic results in modifying the shape, size, fullness and symmetry of the breasts.

How is the procedure performed?

Your surgery can range from 3 to 5 hours depending on the complexity of the case and our surgical plan. To ensure your comfort and safety, Dr. Florin performs breast augmentation with breast lift under general anesthesia. This procedure is performed in an outpatient setting, which means patients can return home with assistance the same day.

During your surgery, Dr. Florin will first create a pocket for the implant (usually under the muscle). This pocket is meticulously created with your overall goal and shape in mind. Once the pocket is formed, implant sizers, which are replicas of the implant that we are going to use, will be inserted into the pocket. The use of sizers allows Dr. Florin to make modifications to improve the shape and symmetry of your breasts and finalize the implant size that we will use. Once the pocket has been perfected, the implants will be inserted.

Once the implants are placed, breast lift surgeon Dr. Florin will reshape your natural breast tissue to provide a round and lifted look that is harmonious with your implants. Your incisions will be closed carefully in order to create the best possible scar.

Your mastopexy and augmentation will be performed in a state-of-the-art facility that is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) to provide the highest standard of patient care and safety.

Who is a good candidate for breast augmentation with breast lift?

During your first consultation, Dr. Florin will complete a detailed consultation that includes a thorough medical history and a physical examination to confirm that your health is optimized for your surgery and that we are creating a plan that is customized for you, your body, and your goals. Additionally, she will review any medications that need to be stopped or altered before surgery.

In general, good candidates for breast lift surgery combined with augmentation in Newport Beach are at a healthy, stable weight, are non-smokers, and have realistic expectations and motivations for what the surgery can achieve.

What to expect during a consultation

During your consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Florin, you will discuss the different breast lift procedures available, including where the incisions will be placed. You will also discuss the types of implants available (saline and silicone), implant pocket location (over or under the muscle), as well as sizing.

You will feel the difference between saline and silicone implants and discuss in detail the risks and benefits of each implant type. Dr. Florin will take detailed measurements of your breasts and body, which, assessing breast symmetry and options for implant size and shape.

Please feel free to raise any concerns you have about undergoing plastic surgery during a consultation. Dr. Florin wants all her patients to feel comfortable with their decision of implant size, type, and placement before having a procedure.

Can other procedures be combined with breast augmentation and lift

As with many other plastic surgeries, breast surgery patients can opt to combine multiple procedures to enhance their results and reduce the amount of recovery time needed. Sometimes patients include liposuction with breast lifts to further contour the breasts, sides of the chest, and bra rolls as desired.

Fat grafting to the breasts can also be done along with your breast augmentation and lift. Fat grafting is often recommended if you are very thin or lean, or if you have lost a significant amount of breast tissue with weight loss or breastfeeding.

“Dr. Florin made me feel extremely comfortable. She is a very competent surgeon and even called to check follow up with me the day of my surgery. The best thing about my surgery other than the results is the follow up care that I have received from Dr. Florin."

How do I know what breast implant to choose?

One the biggest questions you may have before breast augmentation with breast lift Newport Beach is how to pick the “right” implant size. During your consultations with Dr. Florin, you will have plenty of time to discuss sizing and trying on sizers to help you choose what will give you a natural breast appearance for your body. Implant size is a deeply individual choice, and Dr. Florin will give you all the time you need to contemplate before settling on a breast implant that achieves all your goals.

Sometimes there are limitations as to how big you can go with your surgery. This has to do with your anatomy, the quality of your skin and the surgical breast procedures we are performing.

Patients who have very thin skin or for women who choose a large implant may benefit from the use of an “internal bra” (using a combination of meticulous internal sutures and/or a surgical scaffold), which can provide additional support to the tissue and implant during healing which can improve the longevity of your results.

Types of breast implants

Another major decision you’ll make during your consultations with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Florin is what material your implant will be filled with. Dr. Florin will go into much greater detail of the pros, cons, and nuances of each type in your conversations, but here is a quick breakdown of the major differences between the types. Both are used in breast augmentation procedures at the Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery, and both have been proven to be safe for implantation in the body.

Silicone breast implants result in a superior, natural feel that is very similar to natural breast tissue. However, because silicone is not a natural substance, it will need to be removed if rupture or leaking occurs, which may not be immediately detected by patients.

Saline implants, which are filled with a sterile salt water solution, offer increased safety in the event of a rupture as the body can naturally absorb the fluid. In addition, a saline implant can be inserted before filling with solution, reducing the length of the incision.

Other factors to consider when choosing your implant are texture and shape, which can greatly affect the final look and feel of your results.

Incision types and techniques

Plastic surgeons use various techniques for breast lift incisions depending on your anatomy and your goals. Keep in mind, scars are designed to be hidden in the breast crease and natural folds of the body and are closed meticulously so that you end up with the most minimal scarring that will fade over time.

Your combination plastic surgery treatment plan will be customized for your goals and anatomy, using any of the following incisions:

  • Periareolar Lift – This incision is hidden at the border of the areolas, the portions of dark skin surrounding the nipple.
  • Lollipop Lift – In addition to a periareolar incision, this breast lift procedure also includes a vertical incision downward from the nipple to the breast fold.
  • Anchor Lift – In some cases, three incisions are needed to remove excess skin and lift a breast that is sagging, using an incision in the breast crease in addition to a lollipop technique.

Recovery from augmentation and breast lift surgery

After breast augmentation with a breast lift, you should expect a relatively short recovery with minimal pain. Most patients in Orange County take five to seven days off work do not drive for the same amount of time.

You will need someone with you for the first 24 hours after your surgery but after that, you should not require help around the house. Most patients feel quite good at around a week after surgery. You can start light cardio (such as walking or using a stationary bike) at around two weeks post-op, resuming more strenuous activity (such as running and weight lifting) at around six weeks. You will be able to shower the day after surgery and can typically be submerged in water at around six to eight weeks.

Dr. Florin will provide a clear postoperative medication schedule that should make the discomfort after surgery very tolerable. You may experience tightness and pressure in your chest immediately after surgery and this tightness may be quite strong for up to a week. It is very common to have burning, stinging, aching, sharp/shooting pains in your breasts. You will likely experience numbness or decreased sensitivity on the nipples and breasts, which will gradually return to normal.

How long does it take to see final results?

Although you will see the results of surgery immediately after the procedure is complete, the final results may take months to be fully revealed. Implants typically take about 3 months to “settle” into their final position within the body, sometimes referred to as “drop and fluff”. At first, your implants will look high and boxy. As they settle, they will look softer, rounder, and your cleavage will improve. Until your implants settle, you should wear a non-underwire bra like the surgical bra we send you home with.

During follow-up patient appointments, Dr. Florin can tell when implants have fully settled and when patients are cleared to wear underwire bras (typically at 3 months). She can also guide you on how to take care of your scars so their appearance will be next to nothing.
