Liposuction Newport Beach & Orange County
Discover a slimmer, more contoured figure with Liposuction
Liposuction is one of the most requested procedures by patients looking to reduce fat in specific problem areas around their body. This procedure is capable of eliminating stubborn areas of fat in many locations on the body, most commonly in the abdomen, hips, and thigh region. And although liposuction can help eliminate many of these fat deposits, it should not be used in place of a regular diet and exercise routine.
The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery & Aesthetic Lounge offers exceptional liposuction solutions in Newport Beach that come with outstanding patient care and luxurious, state-of-the-art facilities.
Preparing for your Liposuction Procedure
Dr. Florin has a vast amount of experience with a wide range of liposuction techniques and has been offering the procedure in Orange County for some time. She can help you create a custom treatment plan that may include other plastic surgery procedures in addition to liposuction to help you get your ideal body shape with or without invasive surgery.
There are so many details involved with liposuction that come together to give you the most natural results. Many patients benefit from using multiple liposuction devices for the best results, depending on their concerns and goals. The invasiveness and effectiveness can range from smaller liposuction procedures to reduce an isolated problem area to more extensive procedures with multiple body areas receiving treatment.
The technology available for liposuction has changed tremendously over time. This is truly a constantly evolving field and The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery takes pride in using the most up-to-date technology in the operating room for your procedure.
Having the right tools is only part of the equation; for the best results your liposuction surgeon needs to have the best liposuction technique as well. The goal of the procedure for Dr. Florin is to create beautiful and natural contours that are harmonious with your body, rather than simply going for a “flat tummy” approach.
The Vaser liposuction device utilizes ultrasonic energy that is delivered in a minimally invasive technique through tiny incisions. The energy from Vaser liquifies your fat, which makes the liposuction process smoother and less traumatizing to your body. Vaser is excellent at releasing scar tissue so it is a wonderful tool to use with patients that have had previous liposuction or tummy tuck. Vaser is also amazing to help with etching or sculpting a more athletic or high-definition look.
MicroAire power-assisted liposuction (PAL)
Dr. Florin most commonly chooses MicroAire when performing liposuction procedures in Newport Beach, CA. Most liposuction that is performed now is power-assisted, which means the device rotates or oscillates to help remove fat more efficiently and uniformly. For you, this means less time under anesthesia and smoother, more even results.
Renuvion is an energy device that uses radiofrequency and plasma energy to target skin tightening while simultaneously removing fat from your problem areas. It is one of the most powerful devices we have available for skin tightening. Renuvion is a great option if you already have some degree of skin laxity, or if we are treating an area that is more likely to have loose skin after liposuction (such as the upper arms or inner thighs). Dr. Florin often uses it to target loose skin or a bra roll on the back. Liposuction with Renuvion can also be paired with a tummy tuck on someone who has thin or loose skin and is looking for an additional way to improve the skin quality.
BodyTite is an energy device that uses radiofrequency to target fat cells. This minimally invasive device uses energy to heat fat tissue to aid in removal, and can also stimulate the skin through heating to encourage collagen formation and skin contraction for even better results.
Dr. Florin’s Liposuction Method
Your liposuction session can last anywhere from two to six hours and is performed under general anesthesia for your comfort and safety.
During your surgery, Dr. Florin will first infuse a numbing solution into the tissue called tumescent fluid. This tumescent infiltration contains a combination of adrenalin and very diluted local anesthetic that helps aid the removal of fat cells. Dr. Florin will then make small incisions at the site of excess pockets of fat through which the cannula, or hollow tube, of the chosen device will be inserted. Then, Dr. Florin will carefully and gently contour your body with fat removal.
In addition to the standard liposuction procedure used on the waistline and hips, Dr. Florin also offers a mini-liposuction treatment for areas of the face a neck with unwanted fat deposits. This more specialized liposuction procedure is something that Dr. Florin has been offering for some time in Newport Beach and can be combined with other facial techniques in a single visit if desired.
What to Expect During Liposuction Recovery
The recovery will vary depending on how many body areas were treated with liposuction, your anatomy, and your goals. I will give you specific recommendations based on our plan for you. Generally, I recommend that you plan to take 1-2 weeks off work, depending on how physically demanding your job is, and one week off from driving.
During the early part of your recovery, you may need assistance with your medication, meals and personal needs. You will be very tired. You will likely feel tender, swollen, or bruised. Depending on how much liposuction we are doing, by 2-3 weeks, most patients feel just about back to normal.
You can start light cardio (such as walking) at around one to two weeks if you feel up to it. You can resume more strenuous activity (such as jogging and exercising) at around four to six weeks.
Most patients are ready to return to work after a few days and can begin mild exercise after one month. Compression garments should be worn 24/7 for the first six weeks. For the following month, compression garments should be worn at night. Bruising may be evident for five to seven days following liposuction. Swelling may occur up to six months following your liposuction. The final results should be evident within nine months.
In addition to wearing your compression garment(s), Dr. Florin highly recommends postoperative lymphatic massage after liposuction to help with swelling and healing. Dr. Florin can show you how to massage yourself, although most patients will benefit from professional postoperative massage at the Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery.
Results of Liposuction
One reason people love the liposuction technique is that the results it achieves are permanent; once fat cells have been removed from the body, they do not come back. If you experience weight gain after undergoing liposuction, you will maintain the proportion achieved with liposuction surgery.
As people’s concerns about unwanted, stubborn fat on the body vary widely, so too do the results of body contouring procedures. such as liposuction.
Keep in mind that healing from liposuction is a process and it takes time to see your final results. Most patients begin to appreciate their surgical results at about 6-8 weeks after surgery as a lot of the surgical swelling has gone down at that point. However, keep in mind that you will have some swelling present for 6-12 months after surgery. Once the swelling and any bruising of the procedure go down, you will see your final results, which include a slimmer, natural shape of your body in the areas treated by Dr. Florin.

Frequently Asked Questions
What complications can patients experience from liposuction?
Short-term risks of liposuction include bleeding, infection, fat emboli, and bruising. Many of the long-term complications of liposuction are cosmetic. When too much fat is removed from one area, the patient may be left with ridges, dimples, or sagging skin. If not done correctly, liposuction can also create asymmetry in the body that requires an additional procedure. Finally, gaining weight can reduce the contouring created by liposuction. Many of the complications from liposuction can be reduced by choosing a skilled plastic surgeon who understands the human form and regularly performs liposuction. Complications can also be avoided by providing a thorough medical history, and carefully following Dr. Florins instructions before and after your surgery. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and a stable weight are essential to preserving the results of your liposuction.
