Which is Best: Upper, Lower, or Mid-Facelift?

When deciding to have a facelift, you may begin to read about your many options and have questions about what techniques are best for you. A facelift can be performed to address wrinkles, sagging skin, or folds throughout the upper, mid, or lower face, and the best option for each patient varies. Dr. Sadati has years of experience performing over 5000 facelifts and can help guide you to the best option for you.

What is an Upper Facelift?

An upper facelift typically refers to a browlift. This procedure reduces sagging skin and moderate-to-severe wrinkles near the brow, forehead, or near the eyes. For some patients, this can also be paired with eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, to reduce drooping skin and wrinkles on the eyelids. An upper facelift reduces a tired or angry appearance that can result from wrinkles and sagging skin near the brows, creating a refreshed and youthful appearance.

What is a Mid Facelift?

A mid facelift addresses signs of aging through the cheek area, which may include sunken cheeks, drooping and sagging, wrinkles, or hollows below the eyes. A mid facelift is a long-lasting solution for signs of aging between the eyes and mouth.

What is a Lower Facelift?

A lower facelift addresses signs of aging below the corners of the mouth and along the jawline. This can reduce the appearance of jowls, severe nasolabial folds, or wrinkles throughout this area. A majority of facelifts are performed to reduce signs of aging in this area as well as the midface.

Combination Facelift Procedures

Those with signs of aging throughout the face can benefit from a comprehensive facelift that addresses multiple areas of the face. In addition, it is possible to combine your facelift with another anti-aging procedure, such as a blepharoplasty or neck lift. Some patients also pair non-surgical procedures with their facelifts, such as a chemical peel or Botox injections.

What Type of Facelift is Right for Me?

The correct type of facelift largely depends on the aging signs that you see or are primarily concerned about. Depending on your concerns, Dr. Sadati may use one of several facelift techniques.

In particular, Dr. Sadati specializes in a natural facelift, a technique which he pioneered to achieve natural results. Dr. Sadati’s natural facelift is less invasive than traditional facelift techniques and can be completed using only twilight anesthetic with IV sedative. Despite this less invasive technique, results from natural facelifts are long-lasting, with patients enjoying a rejuvenated result for many years.

Ultimately, determining the correct type of facelift and techniques for your procedure relies on a thorough consultation with a qualified plastic surgeon. During your consultation, Dr. Sadati will carefully evaluate the aging signs that you are most concerned about and recommend a treatment plan that will yield your goal results.
