Orange County Tummy Tuck

Although having children is one of the most rewarding experiences of a woman’s life, pregnancy can take a significant toll on a woman’s body. For that reason, more and more women are choosing to have mommy makeover surgery, or post-maternity breast and body reshaping. This operation consists of a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and some form of breast surgery; most often breast augmentation with or without a breast lift (mastopexy). Some women also opt to have liposuction as part of their mommy makeover.

“Mommy makeovers must be individualized to the needs of each patient,” says Dr. Sadati. “One women may be best served with a breast augmentation and another with a breast lift. Another may need a full tummy tuck and another a mini tummy tuck. One operation truly does not work for all patients.”

Despite the differences faced by each patient, certain trends are visible among patients. With pregnancy, most women experience significant changes to their abdominal walls. Not only can they see extra fat and skin, but also they can suffer from abdominal wall muscle separation and irreversible skin injury, often visible as stretch marks. Diet and exercise usually does not improve hanging abdominal skin and bulging bellies. Even liposuction does not adequately treat this, as it only removes extra fat but does not address the muscle and skin problems. A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) involves excising the extra skin, tightening the muscles, and re-shaping the belly button, which can create a flatter, more youthful abdomen.

Many women also lose volume from their breasts after pregnancy, resulting in smaller, droopier breasts. These women can benefit from breast augmentation, in which either a saline or silicone-filled breast implant is placed within the breast to make the breasts larger. The location of the incision varies from patient to patient, as does the location of the implant relative to the chest wall muscle. Some patients also have downward pointing nipples; these women need a breast lift (mastopexy), with incisions made around the areola (pigmented skin surrounding the nipple), and sometimes extending vertically down to the breast crease in the shape of a lollipop. The combination of a breast lift with breast implants can restore fuller, shapelier breasts.

Liposuction also can be a major component of a mommy makeover. Commonly targeted areas include the inner and outer thighs, love handles, arms, back, calves and ankles.

Combined tummy tuck, breast augmentation, breast lift and liposuction is performed commonly. Patients should anticipate surgery taking between 4 to 8 hours and needing 2-6 weeks to recover from surgery.

Tummy Tuck in Orange County:

A recent study from the ASAPS shows a significant increase in surgical and non-surgical aesthetic enhancement procedures between 1997 and 2008. One of the most popular procedures performed was the tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), indicating the age-old desire for many men and women to have a flat, smooth abdomen. Unfortunately, the abdominal region is one of the toughest areas of the body to flatten and tone. Sometimes even a healthy diet and regular exercise do not yield the desired results. People considering tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) in California may wonder if plastic surgery is the right solution for their needs. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Kevin Sadati, practicing in Orange County says he knows how men and women can achieve a trimmer, shapelier stomach when stubborn fat and excess skin won’t go away through traditional means.

Dr. Sadati says one important factor to consider right away is that the tummy tuck is not intended as a weight loss procedure. The tummy tuck should only be considered by men and women who have tried to tone their midsections through diet and exercise but have still noticed little to no improvement. Although it is important to determine if dieting and exercise can have an effect on the shape of the abdomen prior to surgery, Dr. Sadati says men and women should not feel guilty if these methods fail to work. Fat deposits that accumulate in the abdomen are often very unresponsive even for those who follow a rigorous workout regime.

One of the most qualified and highly regarded cosmetic surgeons in Orange County, Dr. Sadati says tummy tuck and mini-tummy tuck procedures can give patients the flatter, smoother stomach that they’ve always wanted, and help them achieve an athletic-looking midsection. Once patients are as close to their ideal body weight as possible, Dr. Sadati says a traditional tummy tuck procedure can be an excellent solution for those who have excess abdominal skin above and below the belly button. On the other hand, the mini tummy tuck may be appropriate for men and women with excess skin below the belly button but not above. In both procedures, the abdominal muscles are tightened, excess skin is removed, and, if necessary, fat deposits are suctioned away via liposuction. Because the traditional tummy tuck requires a larger incision, Dr. Sadati says these patients should plan for a longer recovery time than mini tummy tuck patients.

Some men and women may be especially good candidates for the tummy tuck procedure. Those who have undergone weight loss surgery can benefit from having their abdominal muscles tightened and excess skin removed during a tummy tuck. Also, many new moms are appropriate candidates for a tummy tuck procedure to reverse some of the physical effects that pregnancy has had on their bodies.

In addition to tummy tuck surgery, Dr. Sadati also offers a range of other procedures – such as breast enhancement, facial rejuvenation, and laser skin treatments – that are designed to help women and men achieve the look they want and feel better about their appearance.

What is a mini tummy tuck? Officially called a partial abdominoplasty, a mini tummy tuck simply removes unwanted skin and fat from the area below the navel. This type of procedure has substantially increased in popularity. A full tummy tuck, by contrast removes skin and fat from the entire abdominal area. A mini tummy tuck is a good option if there is not a lot of excess skin to remove, and the patient is interested in minimizing a bulging lower abdomen.

After pregnancy, the lower abs, or rectus abdominus muscles are stretched and the laxity may remain, emphasizing a lower abdominal bulge. The mini tummy tuck is a popular option for women seeking to return to pre-pregnancy abdominal firmness. A mini tummy tuck is also a good option for men looking to reduce excess tissue after weight loss or even gastric bypass surgery.

The mini tummy tuck generally has a smaller incision than the full tummy tuck, and the patient recovery time is quicker. The procedure for a mini tummy tuck involves a small incision above the pubis, and liposuction or body contouring is usually performed to remove excess fat. The lower abdominal muscles are tightened, and the belly button must be unattached and reattached. Today, there are “signature” belly buttons being advertised, such as “Newport Beach belly button”. This provides a tighter, flatter belly button post surgery. Once the contouring is complete and the muscles tightened, a small flap of skin is lowered to meet the incision point, and the resulting scar can be as small as 2 inches.

Because less work is involved, the price of a mini tummy tuck can be up to 50% cheaper than a full tummy tuck. The average cost for the mini tummy tuck is around $2500. On average a mini tummy tuck procedure takes under 2 hours and the recovery time is also much faster than the full tummy tuck. After a consultation with the surgeon, he or she will be able to determine if a mini tummy tuck is right for you. If there is a substantial amount of loose skin to remove, a full tummy tuck might need to be performed.

All tummy tucks will leave a scar, but the mini tummy tuck generally leaves only a small scar above the pubis, whereas the full tummy tuck can leave significantly larger u-shaped or w-shaped scars as well as scarring above the belly button. With a mini-tummy tuck, the cost of the procedure is much cheaper and recovery time greatly reduced. You might consider a mini tummy tuck if liposuction is not enough and a full tummy tuck is more surgery than you need.

Mommy Makeover in Newport Beach

It’s the talk of the town, on play dates and in car pool lines – Newport Beach moms want to look better. There are exercise programs, diets and cosmetic procedures customized for post-childbearing women, but they also have questions about so-called “mommy makeovers.”

Dr. Kevin Sadati, medical director of Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery, has the answers. During pregnancy, he explained, a woman’s body goes through a dramatic change. Sagging breasts and loose stomach muscles are resistant to springing back after the child is born, even with diet and exercise. Newport Beach Mommy Makeover is an enhancement that improves a woman’s appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How fast is recovery, and when can I pick up my baby again?
A: Limitation may vary. Tummy tuck patients can start walking in the neighborhood once they get home from surgery. They can drive usually 1 week after surgery, and they can pick up their baby a few weeks after surgery. They can return to the gym to exercise and do heavy lifting in 5-6 weeks. Breast lift and implant patients can walk also when they get home and drive once they have stopped taking pain meds, usually within 1 week after surgery, and they can resume lifting their baby and exercise at 4 weeks.

Q: What makes a mommy tummy tuck different than one for a person who was not pregnant?
A: In women who have had children, the muscles have more of a tendency to separate in the midline compared to those who have never been pregnant. This creates a tendency to form a bulge in the middle of the abdomen upon straining. Also there are more stretch marks, and both of these things are the focus of repair when performing a “mommy tummy tuck.”

Q: How soon do you recommend plastic surgery after delivery?
A: I personally feel women need to wait at least 12 months after delivery before having any plastic surgery of the abdomen or breast. This allows for retained fluid to go away and the hormone levels to decrease to normal, which gives a more predictable and safer cosmetic result.

Q: Are women able to breast feed after a breast lift?
A: As with breast reductions, at least 50 percent of women should be able to breast feed after a breast lift. There are many techniques available to perform a lift, and the ability to retain sensation to the nipple and to breast feed depends upon the amount of breast tissue left attached to the nipple/areola complex when moving the nipple to its new position.

Tummy tucks, breast augmentations and breast lifts after childbirth are becoming more popular. Requests for mommy makeovers rose five times faster than for other cosmetic procedures in 2006, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

An Orange County native, this wonderful mom wanted a “mommy make over”. She felt that her breasts had lost volume and that her stomach had too much skin. She decided to have an abdominoplasty as well as a breast lift. She had a breast enhancement with 300cc moderate profile saline implants. These breast implants were placed in a partial sub-muscular position in conjunction with a breast lift and areola reduction. The abdominoplasty involved tightening of the muscle (midline split muscles) as well as removing the excess skin.

Despite your best efforts, your breasts, belly and waistline may not completely recover after you have had a baby. The abdominal (tummy) muscles and skin may become stretched; the breasts may sag or lose volume; the nipples may droop or get enlarged; the waistline may lose its curves as the muscles underneath loosen. Unfortunately, none of these natural changes can be improved with diet and exercise. Dr. Sadati is pleased to provide “mommy makeover” plastic surgery procedures specifically designed to help moms regain their firmer pre-maternity figures.

Pregnancy and your Breasts – Post-maternity Orange County Breast Rejuvenation

While most moms agree that their breasts become full and attractive during their pregnancy, there is a dramatic variation in the degree the breasts change after having a baby. This tends to have little to do with whether a woman chooses to breastfeed.

For a very fortunate few women, the breasts return to their pre-baby shape and size soon after childbirth. The vast majority of women, however, find that their breasts become “empty-looking,” and sometimes the nipples migrate so they’re no longer on the fullest part of the breast. This is technically known as ptosis, or drooping. These sagging breasts are often in need of a breast lift or a combination of a breast lift and breast implants.

Some women, on the other hand, experience an enlarging of their breasts during pregnancy that does not decrease after childbirth and breastfeeding. These women may benefit from breast reduction surgery.

Pregnancy and your Belly – Post-maternity Belly Tightening

While the breasts undergo significant changes during pregnancy, no other part of the body undergoes as dramatic a process as the abdomen or tummy. Pregnancy stretches the abdominal wall, affecting both the skin and the “six-pack” rectus abdominis muscles underneath. This can result in a spectrum of concerns, including:

  • Losing the waistline
  • Loose, excess skin in the upper and lower abdomen
  • Stretch marks
  • Fat in the lower abdomen
  • In cases of Cesarean sections, a hard, tight scar above the pubic hairline over which the abdominal fat may hang.

Dr. Sadatii can treat each of these problems using one or more of a variety of procedures. The precise treatment plan requires a customized surgical approach tailored to each specific patient. For example, women who have no stretch marks and a small amount of excess skin can benefit simply from liposuction, while women with significant skin excess with or without abdominal fat most likely need a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) procedure.

Orange County Mommy Makeover

Not long ago, most women had to give up their looks if they wanted to become moms. There are the physical stresses of pregnancy, the sleepless nights, and the long days spent shuttling your kids to soccer practice and keeping tabs on their homework.

It only makes sense that with all these changes, the appearance of your body has taken a back seat to caring for your family. But you deserve a little time for yourself, and a mommy makeover in Newport Beach can help you turn back the clock to reveal that younger, slimmer you that may seem like only yesterday.

Doctor Kevin Sadati is a board certified and experience surgeon who is committed to helping you achieve your ideal look. To get your body back on track, request a consultation at his office Newport Beach, Orange County.

The Basics – Orange County Mommy Makeover

Many women are good candidates for this procedure. If you’re like most moms, you try your best to take care of yourself, eating right and exercising whenever you can fit it in, but there might be a few areas of your body that you’re just not happy with. Some might tell you that an aggressive workout and diet plan is all you need to get your pre-baby body back, but the reality is that pregnancy can cause changes in the midsection and breasts that no amount of exercise can correct.

Women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s most often choose mommy makeovers in Newport Beach, Orange County to address their cosmetic concerns. You don’t have to be a young mother to enjoy the benefits of this procedure. In fact, many older moms who would like to improve their body shape also are interested in facial sculpting procedures to create a younger look and erase some of those signs of stress and aging.

Because they combine multiple surgical procedures, mommy makeovers are often more complicated than a stand-alone procedure. Your safety is extremely important and you should trust your makeover to a highly-trained surgeon and Orange County Top Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Kevin Sadati. Addressing all your cosmetic concerns during a single surgical session means a faster recovery time, and you should be able to start enjoying your results sooner.

Your Procedure, Your New Look

Dr. Sadati will take the time to carefully tailor your mommy makeover to meet your needs. You can discuss your options in more detail and get a personalized recommendation during your consultation.

  • Tummy tucks are the most common part of mommy makeover procedures. Obviously, the stomach area sees the most changes during pregnancy, and for many moms, the abdominal muscles do not shrink back after childbirth, creating a flabby, drooping stomach. This procedure tightens muscle and removes excess skin and fat, with an incision that is generally well-concealed beneath underwear or a bathing suit.
  • Another popular choice is breast enhancement surgery such as breast augmentation or breast lift in Orange County. These procedures can create a firmer, more attractive breast shape and contour.
  • Liposuction can be used to remove diet-resistant fat deposits in areas such as your hips, thighs, and arms.
  • Facial cosmetic procedures such as eyelid lift or mini facelift can take years off your appearance.

Dr. Sadati Answers Your Questions

Even if you feel a bit self-conscious when you first come in, you’ll probably find your consultation to be comfortable and rewarding. I’ll take time to get to know you and learn about your lifestyle, and I’ll make sure every one of your questions gets answered. Here are a few common questions I get about mommy makeovers in Orange County.

It seems like there are a lot of procedures to choose from. How do I create the mommy makeover that’s right for me?

While there are many procedures that can be performed as part of a mommy makeover, not every procedure will be right for you. For instance, one woman’s mommy makeover in Orange County may combine a tummy tuck with a breast lift, while another woman may need only liposuction and a facial cosmetic procedure to achieve her improvement goals. I will carefully evaluate your body and recommend the procedures I believe will help you the most.

What’s the recovery period like after this procedure?

Your recovery period will depend on what procedures are performed as a part of your mommy makeover. Generally, you’ll need to plan for a few weeks of recovery. You’ll need help around the house for a few days, so plan on having your partner, loved one, or close friend nearby to help out. While you may want to go back to caring for your family right away, you need to take it easy to maximize your results and heal properly. You should be able to return to most activities after about 7 to 10 days, and add back in vigorous exercise at 2 to 4 weeks depending on which procedures are performed. Your final results may not be revealed for several months, as scars lighten and swelling subsides.

Is a mommy makeover performed just to improve the body and breasts?

Absolutely not. Facial sculpting procedures such as eyelid surgery or a facelift can turn back the clock on those sleepless nights and stressful days keeping your family safe, healthy, and happy. Also, some moms consider non-surgical alternatives like BOTOX® Cosmetic, Restylane®, Radiesse®, or laser treatments to compliment their better body tone.

This 30-year-old patient from Orange County, California has been thinking of getting the “mommy make over” for over 2 years, she was unhappy with her body due to pregnancy and gravity. Once meeting with Dr. Sadati for a consultation it was determined that she would benefit from a breast lift with breast implants and a tummy tuck. This patient is two months post-op abdominoplasty and breast augmentation/ mastopexy with saline implants. This patient and her husband are very happy with her new look.

Orange County Mommy Makeover

Having a child is probably one of the most fulfilling experiences a person can have. A new child brings joy and life not only to the mother but to everyone around her. Some women, however, feel self-conscious about the effects that pregnancy has had on their bodies. The stretching of the stomach muscles and skin, breasts, thighs, and other areas during pregnancy can lead to loose and sagging skin, stretch marks, and excess fat deposits. To counteract the effects of pregnancy on their bodies, some women choose to have a “ Mommy Makeover,” which is a combination of post-pregnancy plastic surgery, skin treatment, and cellulite removal. These procedures are primarily meant to address the effects of pregnancy that cannot be reversed through diet and exercise.

How to Achieve a “Mommy Makeover”

There are many factors to consider before undergoing a “mommy makeover” ,such as your current health and lifestyle, the areas of your body you want to target, and how post-pregnancy plastic surgery will affect your family life. If you have successfully lost weight after your pregnancy but cannot reverse stubborn pockets of fat and sagging skin, you are probably a good candidate for cosmetic procedures. It is also important to remember that a mommy makeover isn’t just for recent moms—some women wait a few or several years before treating themselves. If you are too busy right now to devote time and research to cosmetic surgery, consider waiting until your children are a little older. You and your doctor can decide how many and what kind of procedures you want to include in your makeover, and develop realistic expectations for your results.

Fat Removal through Orange County Liposuction

Liposuction is an excellent option for mothers considering post-pregnancy plastic surgery. Liposuction can effectively remove pockets of fat that will not respond to a healthy diet and frequent exercise. New liposuction techniques also enable doctors to perform the procedure much more quickly and with less pain and bruising. So if all those crunches aren’t paying off, consider liposuction as a part of your mommy makeover.

Excess Skin Removal – Tummy Tuck and Other “Lift Procedures”

During a pregnancy, the skin and muscle tissue in the abdominal area will inevitably stretch, often causing a looser, “flabbier” tummy. Sometimes even weight loss and rigorous strength t View All Blogs
