If you have drooping brows or unsightly creases on your forehead, then you might be considering a forehead lift (also known as an eyebrow lift). This procedure can help to give your brows a lift and reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the forehead itself, thus giving you a more youthful and vibrant appearance.
Ideal Candidates for Forehead Lifts
Before you can have the procedure done, however, you’ll need to meet with a reputable and board-certified cosmetic surgeon for a consultation and to determine whether or not you’re a viable candidate.
Good candidates for a forehead lift will meet the following criteria:
- Between the ages of 40 and 60
- Open to receiving a facelift as well
- Have furrows or frown lines
All circumstances are unique, however, and the best way to know for sure whether or not you’re a viable candidate is to consult with a professional, such as Dr. Kevin Sadati, who serves the Newport Beach and Orange County areas.
What to Expect
If it turns out that a forehead lift is the right option for you, the next step will be scheduling your procedure. It can be helpful for you to understand what the procedure will specifically entail as well.
First of all, understand that there are two options for a forehead lift; one is the traditional open method, which involves a regular incision. For those who are more prone to scarring, however, an endoscopic forehead lift (which is less invasive) may be recommended.
In any case, the procedure begins after the patient is asleep and local anesthesia is used to numb the forehead area. Then the plastic surgeon will make the necessary incision usually behind the hairline so that its as inconspicuous as possible.
Once the incision is made, the plastic surgeon begins the process of lifting the forehead by removing underlying tissue and altering the muscles of the forehead. Once satisfied, the incision is closed (either with stitches or clips) and covered with gauze or a bandage. From there, the healing process can begin, and you’ll be on your way to a more youthful face.
