This Thanksgiving a Newport Beach Facial Plastic Surgeon has given a young Girl’s Life Back
Newport Beach, CA: Recently the Emmy Award winning TV show The Doctors invited Dr. Kevin Sadati of Newport Beach to talk about a surgery he performed on a twenty-seven year old woman who has dealt with an enormous, disfiguring tumor on her nose since she graduated from college. The benign tumor, known as Rhinophyma, grew hideously large over time and caused years of daily ridicule and bullying.
When Dr. Sadati heard Sarah’s story, he was inspired to offer this young woman help that would change her life. Sarah’s complete surgical journey and post-operative appearance can be viewed on Monday! On Monday11/25/13 the award winning CBS TV show The Doctors will broadcast for the first time an amazing surgical story about facial plastic surgeon Dr. Kevin Sadati.
Following Sarah’s college graduation, the tumor on her nose was controlled by medication; however, soon medications were no longer enough to suppress the growth of the mass on her face. She was not able to join the work force due to her condition, and a lack of money and medical insurance prevented Sarah from receiving effective medical treatment.
Sarah used to work as a swimming instructor-coach, which she had always loved. When her nasal mass began growing larger and more disfiguring, the children that she had always been close to were now afraid of her. Even parents were hesitant to have their kids enroll in her classes. Bullied by both children and adults, Sarah could no longer continue working at her job. The teaching she had always loved had now became daily torture for her.
Working with children, it’s been very difficult. It’s been hard to explain to them as well as their parents what’s going on with my face and my nose.
Furthermore, the mass on Sarah’s nose was interfering with her health in many ways – from breathing problems and sleep apnea to excessive fatigue and weight gain. Along with the physical challenges she dealt with, this disfigurement also led to severe psychological problems such as social isolation, humiliation and depression. She had to endure the daily snickers, pointing and mental abuse by the people around her. This insensitivity only added to her deepening depression. She was extremely ashamed of herself and had lost almost all self-confidence.
Dr. Kevin Sadati, a board certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Orange County, heard about Sarah’s condition from, a family physician. Once Dr. Sadati met with Sarah, he instantly decided to help her in any way possible. He immediately knew that this surgery would require a team of skilled professionals. Dr. Sadati teamed up with, Dr. Arian Mowlavi, a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Dr. Sadati felt quite moved by Sarah’s story. Deciding to perform Sarah’s surgery as a pro bono service, thus helping her allowed Sarah and her family to not have to worry about paying any surgeon, facility or anesthesia fees.
“I heard about Sarah’s story and how much she was suffering; she was trapped in a place with no way to move forward,” Dr. Sadati said. “She lost her job, couldn’t afford surgery and was home-bound. I wanted her to have this procedure to help her get on with her life and have a better quality of life.”
Sarah recently had her surgery and it was a huge success. Dr. Sadati’s generous gift of surgery not only restored her physical and psychological health, but also improved her quality of life. She now feels healthier and happier. She once again has a normal life without the constant ridicule and bullying for her appearance. Feeling and looking better after her surgery, she is now back to being a swim coach and doing the things she loved.
I’m absolutely thrilled with the results. It has already changed my life so much. Every day is so much easier than it was in the past,
Everything went so smoothly and so quickly, and even the healing process seemed to go by so fast. I’m just blown away by the results. Dr. Sadati and his staff have been beyond kind and have worked beyond measures to help me with this and I can’t explain how much this will change my life and how grateful I’ll be forever.
