This wonderful patient was unhappy with her neckbands and jowls that made her look older than her age. She had a lower face and neck lift also known as Platysmaplasty to improve her facial features. These procedures were performed with local anesthesia and twilight sedation in our office. As is seen in this before and after pictures, there are significant improvement in her neck and lower face area. She looks natural and rejuvenated.

She is very happy with the outcomes. Excess fat, loose, sagging skin and prominent bands on the neck are some of the hallmarks of the aging face. These indicators may be seen following major weight loss or gain, but more often, it is due to the naturally occurring effects of age, gravity, and heredity.

Neck lift surgery corrects the excess fat of the neck, and depending upon the degree of laxity; a neck lift can modify and tighten the underlying muscles and connective tissue as well as tighten the loose, sagging skin. For more significant laxity, the classical neck lift procedure is performed, most often in conjunction with a mini facelift, producing rejuvenation of the face and neck together.

In this neck lift technique, the underlying muscles are tightened, and the excess skin is trimmed producing a defined, sculpted and more youthful neckline.
