What to Expect During Your Mini Deep Plane Facelift
The mini deep plane facelift is performed under twilight sedation, avoiding the need for general anesthesia. Dr. Sadati makes incisions around the ears to access and elevate the deeper facial tissues. The facial tissues are lifted and repositioned by releasing the ligaments that cause sagging, creating a more youthful contour. The skin is gently re-draped without tension, avoiding the “pulled” look that can occur with other facelift techniques.
During the mini deep plane facelift, incisions are typically placed in front of the ears and may extend from the bottom of the earlobe to the hairline behind the ear, depending on the amount of change desired. Through these incisions, tissues around the cheeks and jawline are lifted and tightened, refining the jawline and reducing the appearance of wrinkles and jowls. Once the skin and SMAS (the underlying muscular system) reach the optimal position, they are sutured into place, and any excess tissue is removed.
Recovery and Results

Swelling and bruising are usually mild and can be managed with prescribed medications and ice packs. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, so patients return home the same day. A responsible adult should drive you home and stay with you for the first night of recovery. Recovery time may vary, but many patients return to work within about a week. Sutures are typically removed after approximately one week, and you will return to Dr. Sadati’s office for follow-up visits to monitor your healing.
