Your Guide to the Mini Deep Plane Facelift

You may have heard about the extended deep plane facelift as one of the biggest advances in facial cosmetic surgery within the past few years. The extended deep plane facelift is a significant improvement in the way we approach facelifts and results in some of the most natural and stunning results possible.  For individual with laxity of lower face and neck without laxity of midface, mini deep plane facelift can create very natural and long lasting results compared to any other mini facelifts.

The concept of a mini-lift can differ widely depending on the surgeon, but it generally refers to a less invasive facelift aimed at achieving subtle improvements. Patients who opt for a mini-lift often seek a gentle enhancement that enhances their appearance without making drastic changes. Many focus on refining the jawline and neck, while leaving the cheeks largely untouched.

Surgeons often describe a mini-lift in terms similar to a traditional facelift, though the scope is usually smaller. Techniques like SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) lifting or SMAS plication are commonly used, sometimes with smaller incisions to reduce scarring and speed up recovery. The primary focus of most mini-lifts is on the neck and jawline, akin to a traditional facelift, but with a less extensive approach. This less invasive method typically results in a quicker recovery time for patients.

However, it’s important to recognize that not all mini-lift techniques offer long-lasting results. Mini-lifts that involve only superficial adjustments may not have the durability of more comprehensive procedures. For those seeking longer-lasting outcomes, mini-lifts that incorporate deep plane lifting techniques, which adjust the deeper layers of facial tissue, tend to provide more enduring results. This approach offers a more substantial lift that can stand the test of time, making it a preferred option for patients looking for longevity in their results.

What is the Mini Deep Plane Facelift?

To understand the mini deep plane facelift, you’ll first need to understand the deep plane facelift. The deep plane facelift is a unique procedure that focuses on releasing and suspending the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS), which is the deeper layer of tissues under the skin of the face. In traditional facelifts, the facial skin is simply pulled tighter without addressing sagging in the SMAS layer. The deep plane facelift results in less tension on the skin by lifting and repositioning the SMAS and the skin above it – rather than just creating the appearance of youthfulness, it truly restores the face to its more youthful position.

The mini deep plane facelift accomplishes this with the minimal incisions of the mini facelift. The mini facelift is sometimes the “first step” for aging patients because of its minimal downtime and scarring. However, you can now get the benefits of the deep plane facelift and the mini facelift together.

Who’s a Good Candidate for the Mini Deep Plane Facelift?

Generally, the best candidates for a mini deep plane facelift are patients who have signs of aging, such as jowls, neck laxity, and lines around the mouth and chin. The mini deep plane facelift can address these concerns, but it can’t adequately address concerns midface or cheek laxity.

How is the Mini Deep Plane Facelift Performed?

Dr. Kevin Sadati performs the mini deep plane facelift at our luxurious, private, fully accredited surgical suite. He prefers using twilight anesthesia (intravenous sedation), a specialized approach to cosmetic surgery that reduces the risks associated with general anesthesia. During surgery, he will make small incisions around the ears in areas where the natural contours can easily conceal scarring. Then, he will release and lift the SMAS layer in the treatment area, repositioning and restoring it to its previous position.

Mini Deep Plane Facelift Recovery

Like the traditional mini facelift, recovery takes one week. You may feel more comfortable taking an additional few days of social downtime, especially if you have a public-facing position. Our team will give you detailed aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth and successful recovery from your transformative procedure.
