Procedure Description:
This patient consulted with multiple plastic surgeons in the Newport Beach, California area before choosing Dr. Sadati. She decided to have a lower facelift and neck lift in her 50’s instead of waiting for her skin to age further. Since she was from the local community, she had seen that the Orange County Register named Dr. Sadati the “Best Cosmetic Surgeon in Orange County” four years in a row and liked that he was also a sculptor and a painter. “I need someone who can see what needs to be done as well as make it happen,” she said.
During her procedures, Dr. Sadati tightened the muscles in her neck, which eliminated the harsh appearance of her neck bands. He corrected the vertical and diagonal lines on her cheeks and made the skin along her jawline more taut during her facelift, which included reinforcing the muscles and tendons below the skin. After a successful recovery at home, she followed up with Dr. Sadati and was excited about comparing her “before” and “after” photos. “My outside matches my inside,” she said. “I’m so glad I didn’t wait another five years. If you ever need me as a reference, I’ll be happy to tell your patients that you are the best facial plastic surgeon in Orange County.”
Your Surgery Questions Answered with Dr. Kevin Sadati
Is it normal for the neck to feel tight after a neck and lower facelift?
Dr. Sadati always explains that tightness is a normal sensation during the first few weeks after undergoing a lower face and neck lift. Swelling contributes to this feeling, but it should begin to abate within a couple weeks. The “tightness” is related to the way the neck muscles, known as platysma, are tightened during surgery. That sensation will change with time, and you can ice the area to help the swelling go away quicker. Adjusting to the way your newly rejuvenated neck feels also takes time. If, however, you’re experiencing pain or lingering swelling, it is best to contact Dr. Sadati right away to ensure that you’re healing properly. Your understanding of the procedure and its accompanying sensations is very important, so we’re here to answer any questions you have.
