Procedure Description:

Can I Get a Deep Plane Facelift in My 30s or 40s? Ladonna’s Story at 49

Age was not the major reason that Ladonna chose to undergo surgery. Rather, it was because her face was beginning to sag and her skin was losing elasticity at an unusually early age. “I felt as if I was aging rapidly,” she said.

Patients in their 30s and 40s often express similar concerns and believe that they are too young to consider surgery. In reality, however, a deep plane facelift is appropriate at a much younger age than most people believe, especially when there is early loss of form and support by the deeper layers of the face. For Ladonna, this resulted in a deep-plane facelift, a neck lift, a brow lift and upper and lower eyelid surgery.

Procedures were performed with light sedation rather than general anesthesia, and required extensive recovery time to produce final results of maximum aesthetic effect after 8 to 12 months. Major improvements in facial appearance were evident at 3 to 6 months, and most patients were ready to resume public activities within 2 weeks. The overall result was not a completely different face, but simply one that reflected the patient’s continuing sense of youth.
