Can I Just Have a Neck Lift Without a Facelift? Linda’s Answer at 67
For someone like Linda, the answer is no. Not because a neck lift by itself wouldn’t work for her, but because it would only fix the neck laxity. Since her midface, lower face and neck were all aging at the same pace, then a neck lift (or even a mini facelift) would result in a face that looks old. It’s like remodeling your kitchen but not changing the old cabinets.
Linda (67) had laxity in her midface, lower face and neck, sun-damaged skin and droopy eyelids. What she needed was a deep plane facelift, deep neck lift, eyelid surgery, and CO2 laser resurfacing to bring harmony and youth to her face. The deep plane technique repositions the muscle in deep layers of face by releasing the ligaments holding it in place. It doesn’t simply tighten skin over sagging structures, it lift the entire facial soft tissue in a vertical postion.
Could she fix her neck now and then worry about the rest later? Probably not. With a deep plane facelift, we’re addressing the foundation of her face and neck all at once. In many cases, she would end up with multiple incisions and recoveries, rather than one cohesive result.
In addition to a deep plane facelift, Linda had upper and lower blepharoplasty, removal of her buccal fat and CO2 laser resurfacing of her entire face. And all of it was done under twilight sedation, with no need for general anesthesia.
After a year, her face looks 10-15 years younger than when she started. And it looks natural.
