Am I Too Old for a Facelift at 70?
Age is much less important than most people think. More important is general health, realistic expectations and finding the right surgeon. Lorrie, 70, came in with a great foundation; she has a smile that lights up the room and has led an active, full life.
Many years ago, in her twenties, she worked for a well-known plastic surgeon (like Dr. Sadati, he had an artistic background). As she looked into her own facelift years later, one piece of advice stuck with her: “Never let anyone do your face who isn’t also an artist.”
Her preservation deep plane facelift at his Newport Beach practice embodied exactly that philosophy. Through surgical precision, he applied an artist’s eye for proportion, form and detail rather than applying some mechanical skin-lifting technique. She paired the facelift with lower eyelid surgery to complete the rejuvenation of her upper face.
Rather than end up with a different face at 70, she now sees a more rejuvenated reflection of the bright, confident woman she’s always been. And there isn’t a single element of her face that could be described as artificial.
Lorrie’s own experience shows age was never really the question. More important were questions she’d wrestled with for decades: does this surgeon understand my face, do they see it in a similar way to an artist seeing a portrait, and do they think it could be restored rather than recreated.
