“Resilience isn’t just about surviving; it’s about reclaiming our sense of self.”

Deep Preservation Facelift

As a whole, Cynthia’s story is a reminder that resilience isn’t just about surviving—it’s about reclaiming our sense of self beyond the battles we’ve fought. We are more than the moments that tested us.

Procedure Description:

Is Tightness in the Face and Neck Normal After a Facelift? Cynthia’s Recovery Explains

Patients often ask me if their face feels so tight. And they sometimes worry. Yes, it’s normal for your face to feel tight after a deep plane facelift. In fact, I’d worry if it didn’t. In a deep plane facelift, we’re tightening skin, but more importantly we’re lifting fat and muscle underneath and putting it in a new place. And as it heals, that structure pulls. That pulling is normal.

Cynthia had a deep plane facelift, a brow lift and laser resurfacing of her face. At her two-week checkup, she said the worst was over. But she still felt tightness. It can take another 2 or 3 months for that tightness to fade. And it takes up to a year for full high-definition results of your face.

Usually, tightness lingers longest in the neck. Here, we’ve tighten more muscle in a deeper layer, rather than pulling on the skin which would cause scar tissue. So, it takes longer for it to feel normal, but the results are 10-15 years lasting.

Cynthia told me what she liked most about her results two months after surgery. “I’m seeing a total difference in the level of engagement,” she said. The tightness went away. But my confidence increased and feel comfortable speaking at events and be included in the photos.

In these before and after photos of her facelift over two months, you can see how much better it looked.
