Finding a highly experienced, reputable plastic surgeon in the Tustin, California area was important to this busy patient. She’d been considering a facelift since turning 50 but hadn’t found a cosmetic surgeon she felt comfortable with until she met Dr. Sadati. She had heard about his pioneering “Double C” Plication technique and felt that it would give her a natural result instead of a pulled back appearance. Together, she and Dr. Sadati discussed ways to restore the lost volume in her cheeks, and they agreed that facial fat grafting would plump up the hollows in her lower face.
On the day of her procedures, she received local anesthesia with twilight sedation because it is less invasive and doesn’t have the negative side effects that general anesthesia does. Dr. Sadati removed the excess fat and tissue that was dragging down her appearance, then he restored her natural contours, giving her a more youthful, rested appearance. She had no post-operative complications and returned after eight weeks bright-eyed and overjoyed with what Dr. Sadati had done. “I put my faith in you, your artistry, and your industry reputation. You made me look better than I ever thought possible.”
Your Surgery Questions Answered by Dr. Kevin Sadati
Does local anesthesia cause hair loss, or is this a side effect of general anesthesia?
General anesthesia impacts the entire body, and hair loss after undergoing a surgical procedure, whether routine or traumatic, can and does occur. This is just one of the reasons why Dr. Sadati only uses local anesthesia with twilight sedation. Local anesthesia only impacts the area that receives the injection itself and blocks nerve transmission to other areas of the body. Post-surgery hair loss can also occur due to the body’s natural response to trauma, especially when hairs are in the telogen (resting) phase. It can also be an inflammatory response to general anesthesia.
