One of the questions we get when it comes to fillers is if there’s something that is more natural than other fillers on the market. PRF is a great alternative for people who want to increase the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid in certain areas of the face. PRF is an alternative to other fillers or can be used in combination with other HA (Hyaluronic Acid) fillers on the market to help replace lost volume.
How does PRF work?
The Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) technique generates a Fibrin Matrix rich in Platelets and other stem cells. This results in the constant release of growth factors for about 12 days that accelerate tissue healing and skin regenerating processes. During treatment a vial of the patient’s blood is taken prior to treatment, it is then spun in a centrifuge designed to extract PRF. When done this way the fibrin matrix acts like a kind of web that holds on to the platelets.
From there it is harvested and used either alone or in combination with hyaluronic acid fillers to add volume to the face. Another common use is PRF alongside a micro-needling treatment to rejuvenate the skin on the face and neck. It has been shown to improve the texture and appearance of the skin.
