Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art.
Multiple pregnancies, a great weight loss or just time and gravity can take its toll on the abdomen. Even those who have exercised and dieted and lost weight may still have loose skin and excess fat that they just can't get rid of.
Abdominoplasty, also known as Tummy Tuck, is the proper procedure for reduction of excess or lax skin, and fatty tissue, from the middle and lower abdomen. It also includes tightening of the midline abdominal wall muscles.
There are several varieties of tummy tuck currently available. Selection of the correct approach and extent is done by thorough discussions of your options with Dr. Sadati. Abdominoplasties range from mini to extended, depending on the corrections needed.
Abdominoplasty is performed under general anesthesia. This procedure can be combined with other forms of body-contouring surgery, including limited liposuction, or performed at the same time with other elective surgeries. There are several types of Tummy Tuck procedures, including limited ("mini-"), modified, or full abdominoplasty.
Mini-abdominoplasty can only help tighten the lower abdominal skin (below the belly button), and the incision line is shorter than the modified or full Abdominoplasty. Full abdominoplasty includes additional muscle tightening and skin removal, with incisions extending to the hip area. The incisions are made just above the pubic hairline to attempt to be hidden under your underwear.
One of the factors that separate our excellent results from other surgicenters is the application of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). Dr. Sadati will apply Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) over the surgical areas to accelerate the healing process, and to reduce scaring and the recovery time.
Recuperation time will depend on many factors, but is usually one week following mini tummy tuck and two weeks following the full tummy tuck. You will be given specific written instructions as to extent and types of activities recommended for the first several weeks. Having someone to assist you for the first 2-3 days is often an advantage.
Smoking should be stopped two weeks prior to and after the procedure. Smoking causes poor wound healing and increases the risk of complications.
